Edmund and I have been sleeping intermittently the past few nights. He would fall asleep early, around 9 pm then would wake up just before I would go to bed at 2 – 3 am. He lacked sleep. He had no stamina to play golf on three consecutive days.
At the semi-finals match play last Saturday, he trailed his opponent up to the 14th hole. He was able to catch up and won on the 17th hole.
He watched Michel Buble’s concert and came home at almost midnight. He immediately went to bed. Their tea off would start at 6:20 am the following morning.
I was worried to make the faintest noise so as not to bother his sleep. I wanted him to win the championship or at least put up a good fight. His opponent is Korean, Brian Park, and Edmund told me he is a scratch player. I’ve met the guy twice before. First was here at our showroom in Makati. He bought an SUV from us, and second, in Baguio. He and Edmund were in the same Southwoods team. He invited his teammates to a dinner at Korean restaurant near The Manor but I didn’t go with them.
I couldn’t sleep last night (Saturday) night. The thought of two native chickens following me in my dream-mini-farm-to-be consumed my thoughts. I imagined myself walking around the farm and the two chickens and their babies were following me. Those happy thoughts excited me and kept me awake practically the whole night.
I couldn’t move on the bed and didn’t want to turn on the tv for fear of waking Edmund up.
At 4 am, I couldn’t control my pee anymore, I stood up and went to my bathroom. Ayun pag balik ko sa bed, he stood up na. Patay, nagising ko. It’s too early for him to go to the golf course. Sayang, he could have slept for an extra hour.
He told me if he loses, he’s not going to show up at the Southwoods golf club for several months.
I felt somehow he would win. But the thought that he only had 3 1/2 hours of sleep worries me a little because it could affect his stamina.
He was already home when I arrived from Binangonan at exactly 3 pm. Yes he won, and he said the game ended on the 15th hole. Brian Park told him daw albeit jokingly before their game started, if Edmund could let him extend the game till the 15th floor and not too soon. Parang sa boxing, kung pwede umabot man lang ng 10 rounds.
If your opponent shoots birdie, par, birdie, birdie, birdie, birdie, there’s no way you could win.
Congratulations to Mister Yee. Three golf club championships, and 4 x runner-up.
Ms. Annie.. Congrats to ur hubby, sir Edmund.. God bless u and ur family.. 😉
thank you Pam
Congrats to,your hubby! Reading your post today made me miss my dad so much! He was a golfer for close to 40 years…after every tournament, he would tell me and my mom stories about the happenings and he would come home excitedly after the awarding to show us what raffle prizes he won…
The raffle prizes are usually nice and expensive.
Does your dad still play golf?
He passed away already, Ms. Annie.
Ow, sorry. At what age did he pass away? Did you keep some of his trophies?
He passed away at 79. But he quit playing after a stroke when he was 71. I think he was terribly depressed adter that. Good thing his pt included some putting around, so he still had a bit of golfing for around 8 years.
