Two years ago I wanted to put up a taxi business but after realizing it would be another labor intensive business, I shelved the idea. But every time I would see commuters in long lines late at night waiting for a ride to get home, lagi kong naaalala sana itinuloy ko na. It’s not the income that comes to mind, but rather wanting to help others reach their homes safer and faster.
I’ve experienced riding in taxis when I was in college, pag nag-de date kami ni Edmund, naka taxi lang kami. When I did an OJT in Makati at the office of the Valderramas, I would walk several blocks to Ayala Avenue from Legaspi Street to hail a cab. Walang pila non, kasi unahan lang. No taxi stands.
When I read news articles about a taxi driver na hinoldup yung pasareho, or ni-rape, naiisip ko, napaka swerte ko pa rin kasi nothing bad happened to me while riding cabs. Minsan merong may mabantot yung hangin sa aircon and I noticed the cab driver always looking at me thru the view mirror, tapos inaayos nya yung aircon grill para tumapat sa akin yung hangin. Parang nahihilo ako. I covered my mouth and nose and tried to hold my breath intermittently. When the taxi stopped at the next stoplight. I quickly paid him and alighted. Iyan yata yung mawawalan ka ng malay. Meron ding yubg once you are inside you couldn’t open the door of the taxi without the driver’s help. Buti na lang nakalabas ako.
I’ve been noticing this GRABTAXI thing. They have kiosks in several shopping malls. This company is owned by Malaysians.
The guy in Robinsons Galleria told me if I book thru online, P70 yata, pag sa kanya daw eh libre.
I support endeavors that would make life easier and safer for commuters.
I saw this along EDSA, not sure if this is affiliated also with GRABTAXI. It has antlers and says PISO fee for booking.

when my friends and i went to greenhills last week and we were looking for a taxi to bring us back to the office, the lady from grab taxi offered us a “free ride” using the ‘moose’ car in the photo. grab taxi is celebrating its one year anniv ata so they have a promo, free ride to any destination (wag lang daw sobrang abuso ang layo, i.e. for us from greenhills to ortigas center) indeed it was free~ we just gave manong driver a tip.. The promo is until end of August daw, according to the driver.
kanina my friends and I went to greenhills again and we were lucky ulit to find another grabtaxi (panda car) to bring us back to ortigas center 🙂 nakakaaliw yung itsura ng car plus yung mga manong driver na nasakyan namin were magagalang.
one of my friends installed the app (grabtaxi) in her phone and she says it’s useful and reliable.
