Jeannie Javelosa and I were on the same PAL flight from Manila. We shared a taxi together to go to Grand Hyatt Erawan where practically all of the women’s summit participants were booked.
We paid THB 475 which I thought was a little higher than what Edmund and I paid for our airport taxi.
I was a late summit registrant and the rooms have already been blocked for the delegates. all rooms were sold out according to Agoda, Booking.com, Tripadvisor, Trivago, etc. I thought I wouldn’t be able to get a room. I emailed the organizing committee and the next day I received a confirmation that they have booked me a room.
Every elevator has this as decoration. It looks like cabbage.
I like taking pictures of long hallways.
My room is on the 11th floor and is very near the elevator. I don’t have to walk to the very end of the hallway.
Room 1117 is according to my specs: King bed, no smoking, quiet.
It has a built in sofa and a large glass table that’ll serve as my working desk.
It has a view of the surrounding buildings but I keep the curtains down because the room is facing the afternoon sun.
The toilet and bath could be seen from the bedroom. This style is applicable to honeymooners.
I’ve stayed at this hotel thrice in the past. The second time I came to Bangkok, this was where I stayed. I spent a few days in Chiang Mai as Philippine representative to ILO’s seminar and I spent a night here before going back to Manila.
Next was when I was with my family. That was the week after Christmas and before New Year when hundreds and thousands of people perished from a tsunami caused by an underwater earthquake. The third time was when I came here to interview the OIC of the Bangkok Convention Center. I was writing a master’s thesis on exhibition centers and I came here to get first-hand information.
