The blessing today of the new Great Women boutique and cafe on the ground floor of Chemphil Bldg in Pasay Road was at 9:30 am but that was too early for my body clock. I went to the office first for a few minutes, then I hied off to Jeannie Javelosa’s project with my credit card. Ready for battle.
Women who take their gender several notches higher: Jeannie Javelosa, Reena Francisco, Carlota Tan, Pacita “Chit” Juan. If Beyonce is a music diva then Chit is a coffee diva.
Co-founders of ECHOstores, Reena Francisco and Chit Juan.
The perfect model for Jeannie’s creations, Ambassador Delia Albert.
Amb. Albert arrived at the store’s blessing ahead of me so she found this beautiful party dress first. It was perfect on her. I was thinking of ordering one for myself but I was not sure if Amb. Albert would be happy that the two of us could end up at the same party wearing the same dress. The blouse is 9,000 and the skirt I think is 6,000, total P15,000. They only make one of a kind pieces and that is what women prefer. Walang kapareho.
The materials used by Jeannie are made by women from small communities.
Great Women provides for the training, funding, mentoring and marketing of these products.
This was modeled by Vice President Leni Robredo, a good friend of Jeannie and big supporter of Great Women.
Tygie, a fashion house with showroom and workshop in Marulas, Valenzuela City wants to collaborate with Great Women by coming up with a GW collection.
Tygie was founded by Teodora Gonzales whose nephew, Mike Harold G. Nario and niece, Ivy are the ones now helping the 82 year old Teodora run the company.
(L-R) Mike Nario (Tygie’s General Manager), Louise Reign T. De Leon (Tygie’s Customer Relations Manager), Fr. Mauricio (the one who blessed GW cafe and boutique, fashion designer Ivy Nario, Carlota Tan (GW’s Finance Head), Jeannie Javelosa, the definition of being a great woman.
The old man in the photo is Jeannie’s proud dad, Atty. Javelosa. It’s heaven’s gift for a parent to live long enough to see his child grow up to be someone who’s making a big impact on the lives of other people. Someone who is so creative and talented and best of all, with a good heart.
Chit Juan wears some lipstick and blush-on only when she has tv interviews and magazine pictorials. Other days she goes out au naturel and yet in all her photos she comes out looking ever radiant.

Yoling is the president of The Leather Creation who collaborates with Great Women for the leather goods.
There are different kinds of handwoven fabrics that are one of a kind that can be used for clothes, linens, throw pillows, table runners, etc.
I went shopping at the GW store. I’ll show you my loots later.
