I wanted to cook Hainan Chicken for Edmund’s birthday but we went to Tagaytay instead (posts to follow).
And it took me a while to source for all the ingredients. I visited 4 supermarkets looking for peanut oil, pero wala.
I also went to several markets looking for finger chili, also called Thai chili, pero wala rin. I also had to buy a new electric blender etc. sobrang tedious.
I went to Farmers Market hoping to find finger chili but all they had were these bell peppers with beautiful and vibrant yellow and red colors. The tindera tried to stop me from taking this picture,
Tindera—- Miss, missssss, bawal kumuha ng litrato!
Me——— Alin ang bawal? Kunan ng litrato itong sili? Bakit?
Tindera—- Basta bawal kuhanan ang mga gulay.
Me——– Bakit? Malalanta ba? Makokopya ba?
Tindera— Basta ang sabi ng boss ko bawal daw kunan ang mga gulay. Kailangan kumuha muna ng permit.
Me——– Ha? Picture nyang sili? E itong kangkong?
Tindera— Bawal din.
My ingredients are almost complete
Time to buy the live chicken… where is that livestock area….
I felt so guilty for being the reason for this chicken‘s sure demise and felt so sorry.
These are his dead relatives. Killed an hour ago.
Before I could even say anything, the guy chopped the feet and head off. Eh kailangan ko yun to hold and hang the chicken while I blanch it.
Me——————— Ay naku, bakit mo pinutol agad
Chicken murderer——- Ha? hindi pa puputulin?
Me——————— Hindi, wala pa nga akong sinasabi, ang bilis mo naman
Chicken murderer——- Kala ko kasi pang tinola
Me——————— Naku pano yan
Chicken murderer——- Bumili na lang ulit kayo ng bago
Me——————— Kulang na pera ko!!!!!!!!!
