We had nothing to do anymore so our tour coordinator, Cynthia Nakpil, was forced to move our dinner reservation at the Halaszbastya Restaurant from 7:30 to 6:30 pm.
The terrace restaurant is inside the 100+ year old structure called Fisherman’s Bastion, named after the fishermen who defended the city walls during the Middle Ages.
I didn’t climb up the towers, my feet and legs were hurting from standing and long walking. Those that went up said that the River Danube, Margaret Island and Gellert Hill could be seen from the top.
We were the firsts to enter the restaurant.
The interior is small but it’s really very nice. Look, and how cool is that?
The two terraces meets at this rotonda with vaulted ceiling. I am not actually a fan of Gothic revival architecture but the Fisherman’s Bastion was mixed with Romanesque and neo-classical style kaya medyo nagustuhan ko.
View from the restaurant window.
Dinner menu. Oops, sorry, we don’t eat wild boar. We requested for beef for Aileen, Fish for Yen and I. My son was the more adventurous among us, he okayed the wild boar.
I am giving this restaurant a 9 for ambiance.
After the waiter lighted the candles, it added some more wow factor. Sige na nga, I am giving this restaurant a 9.5 for ambiance.
This is one of my favorite family photos.
I am now increasing the rating to 10 for ambiance.
Lugi kami sa wine. Only my son and my sister drank wine. Even if my son is allergic to alcohol, he still likes to drink to pair with his meal. In less than 2 minutes, pulang-pula na ang mukha nya.
The waiters spoke very good English. The service was impeccable and they were courteous.
Clear soup looked plain but it was actually good.
We appreciated the chef’s willingness to whip up something for me and Oyen to replace the wild boar with. He cooked sea bass and ti came out good too.
Aileen’s beef tenderloin was also good according to her.
We all had the same dessert combo. I ate the ice cream with crisps and the lemon thingy. I scooped some of the cream from the tiny votive.
Blowing of candles. The dinner became Len’s impromptu birthday celebration.
Once in a while nakaka tsamba ako ng nice picture. We were leaving already when I turned around and hurriedly took this shot. Isn’t it magical?
The picture looks like a Christmas card ano? Sayang, Edmund didn’t see this view. Di bale, there’s always a next time.
By the grace of God, my children and I, and my sister, were able to visit this place. Thank you Lord.
