Our flight from Tokyo was delayed by three hours due to inclement weather. Instead of a 10:20 touch down, we landed at NAIA terminal 1 at 12:30, retrieved our luggages at 1 pm and arrived home at 1:30 am.
Our maids went on vacation before Christmas and we don’t think they are coming back.
Instead of going straight to bed, we cleaned our dogs’ mess all over the kitchen, the garage, and in just about every where.
Nice to travel and visit places but the packing, unpacking and plane rides are all daunting. When you arrived home, you need another few days off to relax.
We’re all tired and sleepy but we have to have a little something for our Media Noche. I asked my son to get some gruyere, brie, salami, prosciutto ham and bread from Santi’s but he got there at 2:05 pm while they were closing their door and the security guard didn’t let my son in, although there were still people inside.
My son went to Unimart instead and he found Brie,
and some peppered pastrami and sausage.
Edmund bought bread, Longan, ponkan and black grapes fruits from Rustan’s Supermarket.
Nelda, the assistant of Tiyo Bibit sent us a box of apples which I placed on our table.
Kumpleto na, we’ll have the traditional hamon, keso at tinapay, our family’s media noche when I was little.
Instead of mainit na tsokolate, we’ll have Coke and water.
It is our family’s tradition to have paputok. Even when Oyen was still small, Edmund and I always had trumpillo, labintador, fountain, and boxes of watusi for me. I wrapped them in news papers before lighting them. I love the sound of crackling watusi. pero ngayon hindi na uso trumpillo, labintador and watusi.
We’re now into sawa, but we prefer the Chinese sawa. It’s safer and more reliable. The sawas from Bocaue are so makalat, mausok, and only half works. They always have mintis which is dangerous.
Since high tech na ngayon, we buy all sorts of rainbow colored sky fireworks display.
There are firecracker vendors that set up booths inside our village every December 31 and I am in their text list. They were texting me while I was in Tokyo. Edmund bought several big ones, parang pang-Independence Day.
Oyen did the laundry, sobrang sinipag.
We were all busy doing household chores. I washed this table runner by hand.
My son naman was engrossed with his new Iphone 5 he got as a Christmas gift from Edmund. He went to Greenhills to have the Sim card cut.
We were too tired and busy and I suddenly have an onset of migraine so we didn’t go to the 10 pm Midnight Mass.
I gave my son my alkansya and instructed him to scatter the coins on the window sills and at the doors, stairs and entrances to attract money.
He said why not bills, not coins. Oo nga naman, baka puro barya lang ang pumasok. Dapat Pounds Sterling and Dinar.
Dapat the whole house must be bright para din swertehin. Even if no one stays in the guest room, inilawan ko rin.
Edmund and our front neighbor took turns lighting the firecrackers. I was hiding behind the big post for protection from any wayward kwitis.
