There’s a hidden courtyard full of Japanese restaurants serving delicious and authentic Japanese food, just behind Pasong Tamo Avenue in Makati, past Don Bosco and Waltermart.
It’s called Little Tokyo. It’s located in that intersection called Japanese town because it’s full of Japanese establishments.
Oyen was the one who discovered that area when one of her friends invited her there (3 or 4 years ago). She went back after a year with her brother, and today, was my turn.
Oyen said the place glitters at night.
At past 1 pm, the whole place looked abandon.
The place must be livelier at night.
The restaurants tried to be different from each other to offer customers variety and to avoid direct competition but it couldn’t be helped that they still serve similar dishes.
It was quiet, perfect for me.
We settled in at the first restaurant we saw.
We also sat at the first table. In a few minutes, the cases of empty beer bottles disappeared.
We sat outside although it’s sunny because we would smell like Japanese food inside Hana’s small eatery with an open kitchen.
Oyen had spicy tuna sushi and tori karaage.
I was so happy with my order of Saba, fried mackerel from Hokkaido. It was so fresh. It’s P300 for about one fourth slice. I ordered a cup of steamed rice which goes perfectly with fish instead of fried rice. I am happy we went there today.
I paid P800 flat. They don’t accept credit cards. Cash only.
Oyen bought a small cup of Dojo Japanese ice cream for P150
Smallest cup is P150. Biggest tub is around P850.
The Blue Cheese flavor is so intense, it’s like eating blue cheese instead of ice cream. Oyen liked it. I am not a fan of blue cheese to begin with.
