Rewind July 4, 2012, San Francisco
A lot of Filipinos thought that our Independence Day is on July 4. Hindi po, tayo po ay June 12. Ang mga kano ang may 4th of July.
Days prior to their July 4, whenever I would be shopping, the cashier would say “HAPPY 4th”. Nung una, hindi ko sya gets.
Yun pala yun. Happy 4th of July. Ang engot ko talaga.
I went with the “Pnoy’Kanos” to San Francisco on July 4. My sister in law Dimple, her sons Justin and Patrick, Patrick’s girlfriend (I forgot her name) and Aileen. We all rode in Dimple’s SUV while she drove. I always felt relaxed when Dimple is on the wheels, hindi sya masyadong matuling, hindi palipat-lipat ng lanes.
We’re like first-timers in the city, ” look at that, look at this”
It’s actually tricky driving in the streets of San Francisco but Dimple’s a master.
We were lucky to get a parking at the Ghirardelli Square. This would be very close to where we would position ourselves to get a good view of tonight’s grand fireworks display at the bay.
There’s a Ford Mustang parked beside our spot. The owner would kill me once he sees my foot is on his gorgeous car.
I really want to have a Mustang.

Dimple and Justin surveying the area for the best spot to watch the fireworks
Ngayun lang ako nakakita ng grass. This field would be full of people tonight.
The views are more seductive
Perfect day to be out in the sun
Aileen’s more decent pose
Pose pang-pamilya. Their father, who has the same father as Aileen and I, is missing in action. He’s in the Philippines attending to his power projects.
Tonight’s fireworks would be launched from that pier and barges.
to be continued…
