Betty, claiming to be the REAL wife of one of our staff, Willy, suddenly
appeared in our office asking for our company’s commitment to remit to her daughter the
salary of Willy, as sustento.
I emphasized the word real because when I said she’s the first wife, she corrected me.
She said she’s the REAL and only wife.
I made it clear to her and Willy, that the company has nothing to do with their marital problems
and we are not a party to any of their agreement. We will listen as witness, but that’s
it.
We let them stay in a room so they could have closure. But before I left the room, I told
them again that we’re not a party to any of their agreement. I closed the door hoping
they would not kill each other in our office.
After 15 minutes, they have come into an agreement and Willy prepared the documents.
Since Julienne and I were leaving, I assigned our in-house lawyer, Atty. Chique Isana,
to be a witness.
What’s that all about?
She said…………
They were lovers for 8 years, on and off. They were married when she was 24, he, 5 or
7 years older. Their eldest daughter works in a hospital as registered nurse.
The second and youngest daughter is graduating from high school.
Willy left her for another woman when she was 35 yeas old. She caught him daw many
times. There were many tell-tale signs. She left for abroad and found a stable job
in a leading jewelry maker employing 3,000 staff. She comes home every year or sometimes twice a year. She got her two daughters passports because she’s planning to bring them to Dubai where she’s now based.
She said life in Dubai is so much easier. The quality of life
is better and she wants her daughters to experience the same.
She is asking from Willy, a P1,000 per payday or P2,000 a month allowance for her
daughter, in exchange for not suing her husband for adultery.
Willy has a live-in partner who just gave birth a few weeks ago.
And what did Willy say?
Willy apologized to me about Betty showing up just like that. He’s embarrassed about
what happened. I told him okay lang, but he has to iron out his family problems.
His story….
Betty was his girlfriend for 8 years but on and off and never touched her. He said he
knew the mother and he respected her. She was only 16. She eloped with an older and
married guy, who had sex with her. Her parents were so mad and “pinapalayas sya”.
Betty went to Willy crying, asking for his help. He married her in civil rights.
She gave birth prematurely. But according to the doctor, the pregnancy was a full term
and the baby was a little over 9 months.
After a few months, she left Willy and lived with the same older and married guy.
Their relationship didn’t work out, she went back to Willy, who readily accepted her.
She gave birth to her second daughter. According to Willy, her daughter is very pretty,
tall, pang-beauty queen and model.
According to Willy, Betty continued seeing the other guy, so he left her for good.
