Our hotel and the Hermes store is only separated by a driveway. At night, it’s not advisable to visit the store because of the number of Asian customers enough to fill the small boutique.
My son and I went once before noon, when customers were probably still asleep.
They didn’t have the kind of bag that I wanted. I was looking for a shoulder bag with long narrow straps I could put across my body to prevent pick pockets, without handles (less weight), medium sized, for traveling.
How do you explain that Hermes boutiques all over the world do not have ready stock of Birkin and yet, Hongkong is flooded with Birkins.
You’ll find all sizes, all kinds of leather, all colors. And where do this enterprising and resourceful businessmen get all these bags?
Their prices are double than the Paris store price.
Look at this one store display case. These are all Hermes. They have hundreds more inside the store. The Birkin 30 Ostrich leather is nice, the price tag is even nicer at HK258,500 or US$34,500 or P1,600,000. It’s like buying a Ford Everest. Mas sulit yata Everest. Lotto ticket where are you?
How do we know that these bags are all genuinely manufactured in Paris? How are they able to corner the Birkin supply. That’s contrary to what some Hermes store staff in Europe and US told me that Hermes only gets to manufacture a certain number of Birkin because they are all handmade. Eh bakit libo ang Birkin in HK? Saan kaya galing yan?
The cheaper ones are pre-owned and older.

There are so many mirror copies/fakes out there. With storefronts selling fakes as real. Personally, I wouldn’t buy an Hermes from a reseller unless it was authenticated by Hermes. I’d buy a used fancy watch from an authorized dealer but, buying handbags is a whole different deal. (Bags are my hobby. 🙂 Though Hermes is out of my price range – except for a Lindy or Evelyne)

Hermes will never authenticate a bag not bought from their store. You cannot even buy a bag in Paris, bring it to SFO to have it monogrammed. Even their personnel could not 100% identify between an original and a knock off.
