Year after year, Holy after Holy, I never get those gray ashes on my forehead. I think there were only 2 x in the past 20 years that I went to church on Holy Wednesday. Not that I don’t practice religion, not that I don’t follow our Catholic traditions. Basta lang, I just never really made a serious effort to have my forehead stamped on this Holy day.
There are many things that I do on my own that makes me feel more like a true Christian. I know very well the definition of a good person, and I try to be one. Although I have made many trips to the confessional box most especially when I was in college, there will always be that sincere desire in my heart to be a better person.
Today is Holy Wednesday, even without the ashes, let’s be HOLY. At least try.
Life is a highway on which the years go by,
Sometimes the road is level, sometimes the hills are high,
But as we travel onward to a future that’s unknown,
We can make each mile we travel
a heavenly stepping stone.
