HONEY SALT Restaurant in Summerlin

I rode with Boying, a friend of Danny and Tere, Bong and Ayleen’s friends who live at the border of Summerlin. I was going to Pottery Barn and Williams & Sonoma, both in the same commercial cluster in Summerlin.

I like going to home stores. Usyoso lang, nalilibang ako looking at all those house stuff kahit naman hindi ko mabubuhat at maiuuwi sa Pilipinas.

Boying doesn’t rely on GPS and is not familiar with the area so Danny guided him over the phone. “Dyan ka kumanan sa tapat ng P. F Chang. Gumilid ka dun sa…..” Funny how we Filipinos communicate with each other. In my hometown naman, people use the word “ANO” a lot. “Yung si Ka ano, ang bahay dun sa ano. Kung pupunta ka, sabihin mo sa tricycle, ihatid ka dun sa malapit sa ano”. “Pumunta ka sa tindahan nila ka Tek, itanung mo ke ano kung merong silang ano, yung gagamitin sa ano”.

Back to Summerlin: I found the Pottery Barn store. It is under renovation and it’s not as big as the one in Walnut Creek. They have a few displays but not the one I was looking for. I walked to the other side where Williams & Sonoma is. Just browsed around. It was sunny and warm outside so I went inside the two clothing store beside it pretending to buy but actually taking cover from the sun.

I thought the next door, Honey Salt, is a store selling kitchen items.
Yun pala, it’s a restaurant and how nice the place is. Boying and I had a quick lunch at Popeye’s Louisiana Chicken so busog pa ako but I wanted to make usyoso this restaurant so I went in and ordered something.

There were a two white Americans dining under the heat of the sun. They like that ano? Kahit mainit, parang nag sa-sun bathing. Gusto nila umitim

The fruits and vegetables displayed on the table at the entrance further drives the point that this restaurant uses fresh produce or fresh harvest for their ingredients— from the farm and not from the palengke or grocery.

The tiny chicken legs inside my stomach were still intact so I looked for an appetizer or dessert on the menu. I was enticed to order avocado toast imagining that it would be similar to something that my daughter ordered when we were in a tiny cafe in.

Their version is super makulay, full of red and orange cherry tomatoes. I was looking for the avocado but got one kilo of tomatoes instead.

I was overwhelmed by the amount of tomatoes on my toasts. I’d rather have more of the avocado than all this colorful cuties. A bit too much since I was by myself.

There’s salt in the powder room.

This notebook idea is similar to the cafe in Walnut Creek. It’s more personal to write customer reviews here rather than on Facebook.
