Hotel du Vin - Oh My Buhay

Hotel du Vin & Bistro

The whole delegation from the Philippines are all staying at Hotel du Vin.
Edmund preferred to stay at the Old Course Hotel just like the first time we were here but it was closed for renovation.

Hotel du Vin St. Andrews is smaller than Old Course Hotel but it’s also nice.
It’s housed in a traditional stone and slate building steps away from the golf course.

The ice cold lemon water caught my attention as soon as we entered the small lobby. Perfect, I was so thirsty from the almost two hour travel.

We got two separate rooms. One for Edmund who checked in the day before, and a bigger room for me and my daughter.

The room was ready when we arrived.

Hotel du Vin, room Abelour

The 40 rooms in Hotel du Vin are not numbered. They are named after Scottish Whiskies. We stayed at room Abelour, it’s very hard to remember.

The decor in room Abelour is more manly.

I think this room is good for three. It has a king size bed and a sofa bed.

The plaid throw pillows and carpet say a lot about where we are… in Scotland!

The room is tight for our standards. The toilet door is right beside the bed and every time one flushes, rinig na rinig. But the size of this particular room named Abelour is already considered big in Europe and in this hotel.

Our room has the best view. It’s fronting the street and the water.

Edmund’s room is smaller and is on the other side of the building. His view is the windows of his friend’s hotel rooms, roof tops and partial view of the old medieval village. He booked thru the Golf Week organizer and although he requested for rooms with views for all of them, the organizer couldn’t assign specific rooms. The hotel is small and they only have a few rooms at the front. Oyen booked our room separately, either directly to the hotel or thru booking.com or agoda.com so she was able to specify our room preference. The rooms with views naturally come with a premium.

Rooms come with free hot chocolate, drinking water and coffee. The chips and popcorn are to be charged.

After getting settled, we went down to explore the town. We were already outside the hotel’s front door when my daughter told me there were Filipinos in the lobby. I went back and heard them talking in Tagalog. I saw the companions of Edmund’s friends. We are referred to as non-golfers.
May Montalla – Rizada (wife of RJ), Rose Montalla (wife of Celso), Madete Leung (wife of Bobby), and Maris Patnongon (wife of Larry). They were waiting for the van to bring them to Kingsbarn Golf Club to join their respective spouses for Fish and Chips after their first day of golf. While me and my daughter will explore outside. We didn’t register for the parallel events with the golfers because I had that already in 2013.
