There was no advanced warning that we would be brought to a high-end country shopping complex located an hour and a half from the hotel.
After another hour drive from Glamis Castle, driver entered a compound called The House of Bruar. He gave us an hour and a half to eat, shop, go to the toilet.
As we were entering the complex, I spotted an antiques store. Ang layo pa ng pinaradahan namin. How could I eat, shop, rest and freshen-up within 1.5 hours? Under heavy rain and cold? This would be a real challenge.
First priority- the antiques store.
hmmm, mahirap iuwi, breakable
hmmm, silver plated cutleries from England, 1960s.
This tiny oil painting of chickens is about P260,000. The artist is respected and known in Scotland and UK.
I bought a few items that are not breakable. I saw a set of century old soup bowls but they’re so manipis, even Duncan advised me against it because parang hawakan ko lang eh mababasag na agad.
I skipped this one for lack of time, but I saw some nice souvenir items from their display window
There’s a grocery store selling lots of gourmet items including potted flowers and plants.
With 15 minutes left, I grabbed a sandwich and sat outside.
I was staring at the autumn colored maple leaves scattered around me.
Observing tourists walk-by. It’s raining, cold, windy.
I’m alone, sitting here in some strange place, eating a cold sandwich,
thousands of miles away from home. Kind’a gloomy and surreal.
I got so dizzy from the 1 1/2 hours ride back to Old Course hotel. Craig turned-up the van’s heater. Based on my experiences, pag nag heater sa loob ng sasakyan, patay na talaga ako, para akong magkakasakit. I had migraine and felt like I was going to faint. I asked Craig that I wanted cooler air. Ang hirap pa mandin naming magkaintindihan even if we both spoke in English. Sya, slang na Scottish, very thick accent talaga. Ako rin, very thick accent ko, hindi English, kundi Tagalog, may halo pang puntong Binangonan.
