I am Edmund's Chaperone - Oh My Buhay

I am Edmund’s Chaperone

Edmund backed-out of our group tour with Federal Phoenix Insurance last April due to his commitment to finish the new building of Ford EDSA. His round trip plane tickets to Hungary had already been issued and were not refundable.

After he had finished his urgent construction works, he asked me where we would be going. Would we go back to the US? Then I suddenly remembered he still has a round trip ticket to Budapest. The travel agency said he could use his tickets not only to Budapest but he could re-route them since he would be paying the penalty charge and fare difference anyway. Madrid came to mind but the agency said it would be too hot in Spain during that time. We stuck to the original choice, Budapest. My children and I came home with good reviews of Budapest that’s why Edmund was willing to visit the city. He needed a companion and that would be me of course. I would be his chaperone and tour guide to Hungary.

Our schedule had been postponed twice. I got sick in August right after the Ford EDSA Grand Launch. My sickness extended till September. Our plan was marred with a lot of uncertainties.
Edmund slipped while getting off his SUV and strained his buttocks, knees and ankle. Thank goodness he didn’t break his bones.
Our October 30 schedule almost got moved or cancelled because up until Tuesday, October 27, we weren’t sure because his lower back naman started giving him trouble. (Pero nanalo pa yan sa golf tournament.) Magpapa-opera naman daw sya ng kidney stones. After his ultrasound and CT sonogram yielded positive results, we went ahead with our October 30 schedule.

Plane tickets become a lot more expensive if you don’t make it to your original flight schedules. I paid $250 re-booking fee for Edmund’s tickets plus a whopping $1,500 fare difference. Kasi daw when his tickets were bought last April, the fare was discounted, but now, the fares have gone up. Parang sobrang mahal na yung tickets nya when I added the re-booking fee and the fare difference.
As if we have a choice not to pay. Ay I don’t want to think about it na. We paid it already.
