It was a long walk inside the Bellagio corridors. We were going to the wrong direction, away from the exit to the neighboring Caesar’s Palace. We turned back and asked for directions. We weaved through the gaming floor to get to the other side.
I got tired and told my sister we should rest first. I saw an area where there were very few people playing the slot machines and there were no people smoking either. We sat down and of course what do you do when you’re in front of the slot machine? Drop some money.
I inserted $20 and my sister did too.
I would not call this gambling because we just wanted to sit down and entertain ourselves for a few minutes before we start walking again. We also didn’t have any illusion that our $20 capital would multiply by a hundred folds. I was prepared to part with my $20, the cost of using their chair.
My $20 was fast depleting. These machines are programmed to eat our money. Of course there are also instances where they let people win a little so that word gets around and more people would be enticed to play and lOSE.
I got so bored and tired and was just waiting for my $20 to deplete. I turned and looked for my sister. She was enjoying because the machine kept going, giving her credits. She was winning some $120. Oh well, she’s not done yet. My $20 was gone. Since she was winning, and I thought, hmm this might take more time, I dropped another $20 again. Halfway thru, my sister stopped playing. She was smart enough to stop since she began to feel the machine was trying to get back her $120 winnings.
I still had $5 credit, I just pressed and pressed the buttons without even looking at the machine because I was tired already and bored. Bilisan mo na!
End game, I lost forty bucks while my sister earned $90. Good enough. We have ramen money.
