I want to have a cattle ranch - Oh My Buhay

I want to have a Cattle Ranch

Three years ago I bought a native cow I named Harry and last week I added Daisy, a one year old female Brahman tisay. I intend to buy a sister for Daisy in November. I want to have maybe 5 females and two males by February of 2019. I am thinking of increasing my cattle herd except that I don’t have a big enough pasture of land. I also need a yayo for the cows. I want to have a small cattle ranch. I want to raise beef cows. Not the dairy cows that produce milk although I am also curious about them. Did you know that one dairy cow can produce 10 liters of milk a day?

My husband doesn’t want me to go into cattle raising. He doesn’t think I will earn money and baka daw ma-stress pa kami. He asked what I will do with Harry? Dapat daw ito ibenta na lang. Alangan naman daw patatandain ko lang. I told him Harry and Daisy are going to have babies.
E—-“Dapat kasi hindi mo na binibigyan ng pangalan”.

From my one cow experience raising Harry, it requires minimal management and in three years I can already sell cows for beef. Sideline lang, not big business. Maybe I can earn some extra bucks for the upkeep of the farm. Wages of the gardener and caretaker and yayo of the cows, water, electricity, security guards, dog foods, feeds and vitamins for the chickens, ducks, turkeys, etc.

Not counting any potential income, I enjoy watching the cows spend their time quietly munching the grasses.

And do you know that cows love banana leaves?

    1. I think those ropes will be removed when the sugat inside her nose heals. The rope is like a leash that is necessary when leading her from one place to another, when she is brought to the kamalig (barn) when it’s raining. Otherwise when there’s no leash, you will not be able to make her follow you. In one day, she’s moved from one section of the farm to another where there’s more grass.
