The new Robinsons Magnolia shopping mall in Aurora Blvd. Quezon City was in the news last week for 4 consecutive days.
There was a group of men who entered the basement parking and stole the spare tire of a Ford Ranger belonging to a customer.
The owner chanced upon them and called the mall’s security guard. A shooting ensued and two of the bad guys were caught. One of them is a policeman on AWOL since 2006.
Those who are in their 50s and up would know why the Gokongweis named their new shopping mall MAGNOLIA. This whole block in Quezon City near Balete Drive was the site of Magnolia Ice Cream plant. There was also an ice cream parlor, a witness to many weddings, anniversaries, birthday parties, courtships, marriage proposals and movie film shootings. My Kuya Lito brought me there when I was probably in high school.
My father regularly bought dry ice from the Magnolia plant for our ice candy vendors.
Not to lose the place’s nostalgia, a stand alone Magnolica ice cream parlor is located behind the mall.
My comment is there’s no ice cream cart or a window for people who just want an ice cream cone or a cup.
We waited for almost an hour just to get a table. Too many people on a weekend.
too much whipped cream made me “suya”
