International Tooth Ache

For the past three years, I developed a fear that every time I am traveling, one of my teeth will give me a problem. And never fails. Magaling tyumempo. Last October 2016 before I left Manila, I visited my dentist to make sure any of my teeth would not ask for attention while I was away from home. It did. I endured nights of pain from one tooth.

A week before I was scheduled to leave for Europe, sumakit bigla ipin ko. The whole lower right section was in pain. Two nights of no sleep made me rush to the dentist. She said the nerves are interconnected that’s why all my lower teeth seemed to be aching but she assured me it was only coming from one tooth. She removed the filling, thoroughly cleaned it, and re-filled it. I told her to check the other one too. She said, not necessary, because the nerves are just connected. Kala ko lang masakit yun pero hindi. Ok then.

Eto na, in just a few hours after I landed in Vegas, ang sakit-sakit na ng ipin ko. And since the nerves according to the dentist are interconnected, my whole right jaw was under attack. The question is which tooth? Which one? This time I am pretty sure it’s not the one that my dentist cleaned and re-filled. Aha! I knew it. It’s the adjacent tooth that’s been giving me this sleepless nights. Sabi ko nga ba, the dentist didn’t believe. me.

All of you know how it is like to have a tooth ache. I am in a foreign country and I do not want to pay a thousand dollars to the dentist. Nadala na ako. Last January my sister recommended a dentist in Union City for cleaning. $89 daw. We paid a thousand!

I’ll be home in two weeks, there’s no way I could survive having an international tooth ache for the next two weeks. I took Ponstan, it helped and I was able to sleep for several hours. But I only brought one capsule pala.

I put ice on my cheek, wah epek. I put hot compress, wah epek. I washed my mouth with the old fashioned warm water with salt I took from the Sbarro restaurant, wah epek. I let ice cubs melt in my mouth to numb the pain,
wah epek.

At almost 12 midnight, I went down to CVS, a short walk after Paris Hotel. Maybe I should get a new toothbrush that’s softer. Yun pang baby. Ang gamit-gamit ko pala ay yung libreng toothbrush galing sa eroplano, baka kaya sumasakit ang ipin ko kasi ang tigas parang is-is ng kaldero.

Choosing what to buy is one big decision. Ang daming klase.
And the price range! From $18 down to a dollar. I don’t want to buy an $18 tooth brush plus tax pa.

Eto pa pang shave ang dami. Salamat at wala akong balahibo kundi, mahihilo ako pag pili. Caucasians are more hairy. Asians are blessed not to deal with removing hair from our legs and arms. But Caucasians have more voluptuous bodies. Well, we cant have it all. Ano gusto mo, walang balahibo pero pitpit ang dibdib at sadsad ang pwet o puno ka ng balahibo pero maumbok ang tumbong at siksik ang dibdib? Pwede bang combination?

Aha! Eto pala yung nipple concealer. we can be like the cabaret girls. We can stick this first then put another layer that has design, like stars or doodles. This is too big. Dapat maliit lang. Eto na yun buong dede ko.

This CVS is open 24 hours and even at past midnight, there are still a lot of tourists buying travel essentials.

  2. Hi Anne, sorry to hear about your toothache. After your Las Vegas trip, I was wondering if you will be near Tracy CA? I can ask my cousin to look after you. Send me a pm or an email if u wish to see a dentist while overseas. By the way, even if you are in pain, you made your readers laugh with your unique story telling. Thank you.
