Japanese tunnel - Oh My Buhay

March 7, 2014 Friday

Part of the tour is a trip to a hole that has 5 exits. This tunnel was built by the Japanese soldiers during the WWII to hide from the Americans. This area must really be very remote during those period. But now, it’s just there, by the roadside and not too far away from the town.

There’s a lady at the entrance of the tunnel with a bagful of head lights waiting for tourists. You are not allowed to bring the light gears. Hiram lang yan.

I would say that Batanes is a beautiful place to visit– without little children. The whole place is not kid proof. Mabato, maraming aakyatin na pwede silang mahulog, madapa, mabagok. This Japanese tunnel is one good example.

The local government must put a railing ASAP to avoid tourists from accidentally falling down the dark hole. Anyone who falls would be dead 1,000 percent.
