Jenytalia is the name - Oh My Buhay

There’s a stack of resume on my desk and I have been noticing unique names. Gone are the days when names were after saints. People now have become more creative and imaginative. And I would also guess that the Catholic church has relaxed their rules. Noong araw hindi pwedeng binyagan kung hindi tunog santo ang pangalan ng baby. Salome, Magdalena, Crisanta, Maria Lourdes, Fernando, Roque, Emmanuel. Ngayon ibang-iba na ang mga names and how they are spelled. Let’s look at some of them:

Genecar – female, her parents probably are Generoso and Carlota
Terence Phil – female also, her parents’ names are Teresito and Filipina
Joie- diba dati Joy?
Karl Centriec- male
Mikhail- male
Rowynne- male
Errwin- male
Jonessy Cay – female
Danielle – male
Jesonie Sarsa – what?
Marionne
Veverly- What’s wrong with the spelling Beverly? They changed it to V because the baby is a HE.
Carlos Bruno- this is cute, wag lang Carla Bruna
Andrew Faye —- When you combined your boy’s name with a girl’s name, you’ve already decided on what he would turn-out to be, a half-boy and a half-girl.
Gerald Jill—– Isa ka pa!

Biglang-awa
Biglang-awa

I met a lady from HK at a business gathering two weeks ago. She’s actually from Zhuhai, China.
Me——- Hi, I’m Annie, what’s your name?
Jenytalia
To be sure I heard it right, I asked her
“How do you spell it?”
Jay-eee-en-y-ti-ey-el-ay-ey. Tama!
Maybe she combined Jennifer and Natalia without realizing the implication, more like the HK girl working in a bank that adopted a Western name, Vageena.
If her boyfriend goes to the bank looking for her, “Hi, where is my Vageena?”
