I brought my son along to the Christmas Party of Johan Strauss Society of the Philippines, held at the Forbes Park residence of His Excellency Dr. Josef Muellner, Ambassador, Republic of Austria.
My son picked me up from my office. He was complaining of heavy traffic along EDSA. From my office to the venue, it should have been a ten minutes drive, but it took us one hour and fifteen minutes.
My son is trying to cut down on food kasi he’s a little tabachuychuy na.
I used to like the honeycured ham of the Plaza but lately parang I found them lacking in taste.
We shared a table with renowned pianist Raul Sunico. I told my son Raul was the one who played the piano during their graduation play when he was in nursery! How could he remember daw eh he was only 4 1/2. That was 20 long years ago.
Dr. Muellner, Olga Martel, Mrs. Muellner, Fortune Ledesma, Consul of Monaco. Fortune is at least 10 years older than me but she looks 15 years younger. I am embarrassed to ask what’s her beauty regimen. Wrinkles seem to avoid her pretty face.
The tenor is tall and handsome. He has a very charming smile. Sayang, my daughter wasn’t with us. Bagay sila (laughs). Plus he’s French and my daughter has been studying the French language. They can communicate easily. Sayang talaga.
The officers of Johan Strauss Society.
JSSP is named after the great Austrian composer of Romantic waltz music, Johan Baptist Strauss.
My son and I had a few minutes talk about his plans. He asked to be allowed to take his MBA in September 2016 rather than in 2015. He said there are many things he still wants to do and he thinks 2015 is too soon for him. He said he will honor our agreement and would follow my wishes that he goes back to school. I told him not to make me follow up or remind him. He told me I don’t need to worry about saving for his tuition fee. He would pay for his own tuition fees daw.
N——“Di ba you said you don’t have money yet, you still have to save? I may be able to earn enough to pay for my tuition fee. O di you don’t have to worry na”.
Salamat anak. Agreed.
