Just before I left for the US, my husband and I went on a road trip around Rizal reminiscing about the times when there were still a lot of rice fields in between towns. Today, we could no longer easily identify the boundaries because there were no more vacant lands separating the towns.
We drove around for several hours and we also had a lot of time to ponder about life. We also talked about bits pieces of our journey in business. Our struggles to achieve something for ourselves and for our family.
My husband said that what we have achieved is no mean feat. We may not be the biggest car dealer in the country but he said we were honest in all our dealings. We went thru our days and tackled the hardships “kahit tayo api”.
That conversation happened a little over a month ago but that phrase is still stuck in my mind. Kahit kami api. It reminded me of my own parents’ struggles to achieve something for me and my siblings. They just worked hard not minding how other’s treated them, fairly or not, they just went on and on.
As business people, Edmund and I don’t have a lot of tricks up in our sleeves. In more ways than one, we are very simple. We just do what we think is right. Kahit kami api. We draw our strengths from our faith in God and love for our family and that someone bigger than all of us is guiding and helping us.
