August 1, 2019, Sonoma
We came from Sonoma Valley Inn, on our way to the vineyards when we spotted this kawawang doggie sitting on the sidewalk.
A——-“There’s a bear.”
Oyen—-“Is that a dog?”
A——-“I think it’s a bear.”
Oyen—-“It’s a dog!”
We made a U-turn and parked alongside the curb. I got off and walked closer to the giant stuffed toy.
Awwww, he looks kawawa. My heart melted when I saw his face and the FREE sign. Being unwanted is the worst feeling.
While I was taking photos, a car stopped and a guy signaled to me if I was taking the doggie. I turned my head side to side. Nope we’re not getting him. Sorry doggie. We’re not taking you home.
The guy got off his car and inspected the dog closely.
He smelled the fur. Bantot kaya?
He flipped him twice, smelled his but, touched the face, ears. I was watching him with bated breath. Hoping he would take the doggie home.
Nope. The man put the doggie down, back to the sidewalk, got on his car and sped away. It broke my heart to leave this dog here.
Wahhhh I wish we could bring him home.
