My sister needs a newer kitchen. It’s not urgent but it would be nice to have an upgraded one. It’s about time because her kitchen cabinets and counter tops are at least 25 years old although her appliances are not that old.
I’ve mentioned it to her and they’ve been planning to do some renovation but it never got past the planning stage. It was not given a priority.
I initiated doing some measurements of her kitchen last week. I went to a kitchen cabinets and granite store to show my rough drawings and to get a quote. With the computer app, the store was able to design her kitchen in less than half-hour, compute the number of cabinets needed, and the prices.
I gave Len the drawings and quotations from the store and I told her, those estimates are free. She doesn’t have to do it soon, at least she has a good idea of the amount she needs to have a newer kitchen. She can do it next year, next next year, 5 years, or never, at least she has an idea. She can do it whenever she’s ready.
The store was not able to finish the quotation because my sister’s choice of counter top was needed so I brought Bong and Len to the store. She likes the white cabinets and sparkly gray quartz counter tops. Since she cooks a lot, fries a lot, she can’t have marble or granite which are porous. All that grease, soy sauce, fish sauce and catsup will stain the counter tops.
Sometimes even if you don’t have the funds yet to embark on a kitchen renovation project, it’s nice to go to the store to get an estimate, to look at the many choices, what’s the trend, the options. It’s free and it gives you a good motivation. Nakakalibang rin. You’ll be surprised na hindi naman pala sya ganun kamahal. Kaya naman pala. All you need to do is a little bit of realignment of funds. If hindi talaga kaya, wala namang mawawala. Everything starts with a dream.
