kitchen tiles & bath tub

We don’t have a contractor, only a foreman and some laborers paid on a per day basis.
It’s hard for Edmund and I to have the total labor cost computed and contracted because the materials are not ready. Turo-turo lang for our kitchen renovation.

I looked around for white tiles with groove but didn’t find what I had in mind. When Edmund asked me what I wanted, he knew exactly what to buy based on what I told him. Except that he got the color right, not the style and size. When I saw what he bought, okay na lang din sa akin.

I went to Home Depot again hoping to find tiles for the kitchen floor. I was here a few days ago but didn’t find any. Try uli ako, I might find something.
What I had in mind was the baldosa style, parang nung araw sa simbahan.
This one from Ceramica tiles looks somewhat like that.

Hmm, I like this one better. It has more white, blue and looks brighter. The other one is nice too but looks more mediterranean because of the clay color.
According to the sales lady, these are from Spain and they are highly suitable for heavy traffic because they are thick and durable. Kung kitchen daw, kahit mabagsakan, hindi mabilis mapingas.
I wonder if husband number one and only would like this too.
I told the girl I would measure first the area and would call her within the day.

I have been here several times before. They have a kitchen display that I like a lot. It’s white with wood grains. Two problems though— one: it would take at least 3 months delivery because they are custom made in Malaysia, two: the cost is P800,000 at least just for the cabinets.
I don’t want to wait for 3 months, and I don’t want to spend P800,000 for the dirty kitchen cabinets alone. Kung kasama ang Sabah, baka pa. Baka bigyan ako ng saging na saba eh nakaka constipate yun.

I also saw this Bisazza mosaic tiles, pwedeng pang splash board. Two problems again: one, I am not sure if husband would agree kasi alam ko hindi nya type ang mosaic, two: they are from Italy.
Readily available but the cost is P14,500 per square meter which is roughly ten pieces of these tiles.

The following day, Sunday

Me—– “Tart, meron akong nakita na mga tiles sa Home Depot…”
Edm—- “Tinganan natin?”
Me—– “oo sana”.

Husband likes the mediterranean tiles better. he said the colors are more subdued and darker.
Wife likes the brighter one. Wife rules.

Edm—– O, orderin mo na.
Me—— Ay, wala akong dalang check.
Edm—– Ano ba yan, bibili pero walang dalang checke.
Sales Lady—- Pwedeng credit card.
Edm—— Use my card, here.
Me—— I’ll just pay. Miss, how much is the total for 37 square meters?
Edmund—- Forty.
Me——– Pwedeng isole pag sobra?
Lady—— Mam, hindi po. Madali namang mag-order kung kulang, meron kaming stock.
Me——– 37 square meters na lang.
Lady—– “thirty eight thousand seven hundred….”.

Me——— Nai-imagine ko ang ganda ng kitchen ko.
Edmund—– Nai-imagine ko ang gulo dahil dun sa design ng floor tiles.

Floor tiles done.

Me——-“Let’s go to Surface, I saw the quartz stone for the counter top. They have white. Mas mura sa kanila P17,500 per sqm, dun sa kabila P25,000 per sqm.

According to the seller, quartz stone (from Israel) doesn’t absorb dirt, stain, toyo, coke, ketsup, and scratches.

Edmund—– “Magba-bath-tub ka pa ba?”
Me——– “Yah”

Edmund——- “Pwede na ito, isasalpak na lang. May space ka pa for shower.
O yan, mas maliit, pwede na ito. Sobrang laki naman kasi nung bath-tub mo”.
Me——– “Eh kasi good for two people. Except, wala akong ka bath tub”.
Edmund (laughs)—- “Hindi ako pang bath tub. Nahihilo ako pag lumulutang sa bath tub”.
