We went to dinner at the L & L Hawaiian Barbecue near Mercury Drug. It’s a small and no frills restaurant that my son and his friend discovered. From afar, I thought it was like a carinderia that’s why I was hesitant to dine there. Baka kako maingay. I was wrong, the place is actually nice.
L & L stands for Lee & Lee, the names of the two Koreans who originally started L & L Drive Inn restaurant on Liliha Street in Honolulu.
It was bought by partners Johnson Kam and Filipino Eddie Flores in 1976.
In 1988 they franchised the brand and in late 1999 opened their first restaurant in California. They repackaged it as L&L Hawaiian Barbecue® .
Oyen liked the Chicken Barbecue plate which consists of two small scoops of rice, macaroni salad and a skinless thigh fillet. P188
Hamburger steak with sunny side up and macaroni salad. The macaroni needs more ingredients and taste.
Oyen and I finished our respective orders except for the macaroni salad.
It was Nyke’s second time here.
The place is casual dining and the food is good enough.
It was my son who paid for our food. I think he paid less than a thousand pesos.
