Lai Kwai Fong - Oh My Buhay

We initially did not like our hotel, Lai Kwai Fong but we’re just too tired to pack-up and leave. I actually wanted to transfer but Edmund said no na lang kasi tired na kami and since we would only be there for a day, we’ll waste our time moving from one hotel to another. We ended up staying and it turned out okay.

Just like the small business hotel in Guangzhou, I also discovered Lai Kwai Fong on-line through Agoda site. According to the travel reviews, Lai Kwai Fong Hotel is the best boutique hotel in HK. Judging from the continuous flow of Caucasian guests, then maybe there’s something to this hotel that’s acceptable to business travellers. Maybe its location and reasonable rates.
The room rate is actually more than US$300+ but I got the non-refundable rate of US$250 per night for a harbour view room.

Our room 3105 has a partial harbour view, of course, nothing compared to the sweeping harbour view at the Grand Hyatt, etc.

There’s no wifi in the room. You may have a connectionf or HK120 a day. They have a nice and comfortable terrace on the 4th floor with free wifi and bottled water.

The location turned-out to be good. Restaurants abound in the area and you see so many expats day and night. Unlike in Nathan Road where night owls looked more like trouble makers, here, you see executive-looking white people, eating, having coffee, in their office suits.

Small boutique shops are also everywhere. It’s a block away from the antique shops in Hollywood Road, a few minutes walk to the H&M store along Queens Road Central and to many other interesting shops.

Edmund exchanged US$100, I exchanged US$200 to HK x 7.73 a dollar.
