We all woke up at 4 am. Edmund brought the kids to the airport.
My daughter was flying to New York to attend the wedding of her friend from Fordham.
I’ll see her in Manila in February.
My son also left for a snowy place. At first he didn’t want to bring the thick winter jacket Edmund bought from the premium outlet. He was only bringing a duffle bag and he found the jacket too bulky.
Bulky and heavy. He needs something with wheels.
At my prodding, he agreed na rin. Imagine he was going to walk on 10 inches of snow at negative twenty degrees? We were worried about how he would manage. Napaka sipunin pa mandin nya at ubuhin.
We’ re not spending New Year together. This would be the first time that Edmund and I are spending the New Year by ourselves.
I hugged them a few times. I tried not to cry when they were leaving the hotel. I have to accept that times have changed. They are now adults. They have their own lives. It’s not all the time that we could be together. Particularly my son. He is still in a crossroad. He is still finding his way.

Ms. Annie, 20 years from now my son will also be leading his own life. I don’t think I will ever be ready for it…
Happy New Year Ms. Annie and to everyone!
