July 18
I explored a little bit of Boston and Cambridge on my last two days in Massachusetts. The sun gets down at 9 pm so even at 6 pm it was still bright and sunny.
I took Uber and taxi to get around the cities.
I also did a lot of walking, eating, and window shopping on Newbury Street.
It was so hot on that day. I surprised myself by not complaining of the heat and humidity. I just wanted to maximize my last day here. I don’t know when I will have the chance to see these beautiful cities again. ‘
Here are some photos:
Newbury Street begins at Ross and ends at Chanel. Inexpensive to expensive.
Lots of charming side-walk cafes
Early dinner in a Japanese resto bar
Dessert
I ordered mango with sticky rice and coconut milk.
An Old bike is repurposed as decor piece.
Mango ice cream with real mangoes and coconut milk
I am craving for this.
Filipinos take photos of the buildings.
I entered Chanel not dressed to impress. I was wearing a school t-shirt. The sales staff looked at me from head to toe, discretely but I caught his eyes. I can’t blame him, I was carrying a Ross plastic bag containing a set of pillow cases with giraffe prints. I got off at the corner of Newbury where Ross is, walked all the way to Chanel. End to end.
From Newbury, I walked to Saks Fifth Avenue, the final destination for the night.
July 19
I walked to Harvard Square.
Went inside the bookstore again.
I read the first 10 pages of this book. I forgot that I was supposed to just flip through the pages. It was a good read.
Sometimes I feel the urge to stop and interview the homeless to find out about the circumstances that brought them to the streets. I did that once and from $1, the guy talked me into giving him $5, then he said $20, and if I give him $60 he would be able to sleep in a hotel. He also told me a $150 gift from me would afford him a one week stay in the hotel.
I continued walking down the road to the river.
I walked to the riverbanks by myself and no one bothered me. It was so quiet and serene.
I crossed the bridge to the other side of the river. Ang init-init rin, wala akong payong.
I am actually afraid to walk in places where there are a few people but I was curious what’s on the other side of the river so I walked anyway. I wouldn’t be able to enjoy the scenery if I would ride a taxi or Uber.
The campus on the other side of the bridge belong to Harvard Business School.
The campus is so nice. I kept walking and asked for directions three times. I was looking for the exit to the main road so I could either take a cab or Uber.
A professor was kind enough to show me the way to the parking area where two taxis were waiting for passengers.
I told the taxi driver to bring me to the Boston Harbor. Then when we reached the place, I asked him if he would like to wait for me. I just wanted to take a souvenir photo. He said yes.
There were more Caucasian tourists here.
The heat was draining my energy. It was 97 degrees.
I couldn’t believe the number of customer this bar had. Friday night! People didn’t mind the humidity.
I didn’t want to walk to the end of the pier. I was sweating.
I went back to the taxi and asked him to drop me off at the Starbucks near the Quincy Market. I bought dinner and sat down outdoors while listening to the lvie music.
I used to hate lemonade, ngayon love ko na. Dati naasiman ako, ngayon, parang masarap rin naman.
Ay, asim nito. I asked him kasi to put less sugar. Hindi pala pwede, ang pait.
I saw these tourists on my way back to Cambridge on Uber. Iba trip nila. Hindi nga ako sasakay dyan.
