Le Miserables in Manila

My daughter encouraged me to watch Les Miserables at Solaire Casino and Resort. I really had no interest to watch this Broadway musical. Firstly, I’ve seen it a few times in other countries. Baka makatulog lang ako kasi exhausted and puyat lagi. Oyen said kahit daw basta umupo lang ako it may somehow distract me from my present worries.

She was given three complimentary tickets by East West. Sayang naman daw.

I used waze, kaya hayun instead of one hour drive, it took us almost two hours, ipinasikut-sikot kami sa Metro Manila sa maliliit na iskinita na hindi halos kasya ang sasakyan ko, sa kaiiwas ng EDSA traffic, mas matagal pa ang inabot. Muntik pa kami nahuli sa showing.

Actually the tickets were complimentary, courtesy of Eastwest Bank, Auto Loans. They invited some dealers, from Ford and Toyota, to come watch and also attend their welcome cocktails.

While taking selfies outside the theater, a woman recognized my daughter “Julienne?” Yen didn’t recognize her. Yun pala she’s her high school teacher. Oh my, what a great memory she has. Imagine, sa dami ng estudyante nya, natatandaan pa nya, and that was 15 years ago?

Amazing memory. She looks more like Oyen’s classmate.

Before driving home, we went to McDo drive-through.

McDo drive through

Since we couldn’t roll down our windows, we asked the driver to do the ordering.
A—–“Mag-order ka, sabihin mo french fries large”.
Driver—-“pri…prins.prinsways”.
A——“French fries, lakasan mo boses mo”.

After we’ve completed our orders,
“Mag-order ka rin ng para iyo. Ano’ng gusto mo? Sabihin mo dun sa babae”.
Driver——“Prins sways na rin mam”.
Order taker—“Sir, anong size, regular?
Driver——-Yung irregular lang”.

Oyen and I tried so hard not to burst into laughter. Nakakatuwa talaga itong driver namin. It was almost midnight, nawala antok ko sa kapipigil ng tawa.

If you missed the play in Manila, you can buy a DVD and watch the 2012 movie starring Anne Hathaway as Fantine and Hugh Jackman as Jean Valjean, Russel Crowe as Javert, Amanda Seyfried as Cosette.

Thank you to the officers of EWB, Jason, Maybel, Jane, and to their bosses.
