Lending with ATM as collateral - Oh My Buhay

Lending with ATM as collateral

I went to see a female dermatologist yesterday afternoon. I have a small cyst on my forehead which I asked her to remove. We’ve known each other for about 20 years. She asked about my son. She’s known Nyke ever since he was around 5 years old. She was so smitten with this cute little boy. She would ask me to leave my son with her kasi he and doctor husband have no kid of their own.

I told her my son had been scammed that’s why we deemed it best for his welfare to keep him away from his so-called friends who were wheeling and dealing and taking advantage of his gullibility. .

The derma told me she has many patients trying to lure her into investing her money in a lending scheme where they loan to public school teachers using ATM cards as collateral. She never parted with her money. Good for her. She’s smart and not greedy.

One of her patients lost forty million pesos and lots of jewelries. She and her husband have since separated because he got so mad with her financial madness. One lost five million, one lost thirty million and the other one lost fifteen million. The teacher / debtors cancelled their ATM cards, some declared them lost so the ATM cards in the possession of the creditor were useless.

Meron pang barangay captain.
Tuwang-tuwa pa sila kasi iniisip nila nakaloko sila. Mababaw talaga ang mga ambisyon.

The derma’s own sister who is also a doctor was scammed five years ago. She didn’t tell me in detail about the scheme. How she lost her kabuhayan and where the money went. She just mentioned that a female friend of her sister was the one who enticed her to invest. To cut the long story short, her sister lost two condominium units, the house and lot they were living in, all her jewelries, three cars, all her money. As if those were not enough, she discovered that her husband has a mistress and already has kids with that woman. Meron na silang sarili nilang bahay.

The derma told me her other siblings tried to help her financially in the beginning but all the money just went to paying off big loan interests so they stopped. Her sister was on the verge of ending her life because of her unbearable misery. The turning point was when she agreed to find a new life abroad. She found a job in the middle east.
Since she’s a doctor, she was able to find a high paying job in a top hospital. She was earning 500,000 pesos a month which she used to pay-off her loans little by little. Until now she is still paying some of the principal she borrowed but malapit na daw matapos. She is a lot happier now and hopefully smarter. There was a woman who invested 5 million out of which the doctor was able to pay 3M little by little.

Lesson learned: Huwag na tayo magpautang kahit kanino.
