Batanes has several islands. The biggest is Batan, where Basco is. Sabtang, where tour groups take every tourist for a banca ride of their life (bring Bonamine), and Ibtang, a 4 hour boat ride or an hour small plane glide. Other smaller islands are uninhabited.
Our first day tour covered the northern area of Batanes where the Basco lighthouse is.
Just like all other lighthouses in the whole wide world, this one is on top of a hill (Naidi Hills) overlooking the ocean.
From our hotel (Fundacion Pacita), we went down the hills, passed through the Port of Basco, then climbed up again. It’s only a 10 minute leisurely drive because no traffic here whatsoever.
The construction of three lighthouses around Batanes was a project of then Congressman Florencio Abad. They are not operational, I didn’t see lights. But they serve the province well by attracting tourists.
Entrance is free but you need to register.
One could see the whole town of Basco from the viewing deck.
Ang konti ng nicho. Konti lang kasi sila, at malamang sa super relaxing doon eh mahaba ang buhay ng mga tao.
