Dragon dancers are at their busiest on Chinese New Year. Because of the law of supply and demand, their fees naturally spike on this most auspicious day.
For this year, we have green and silver lions instead of red dragons.
The lion dance is a traditional Chinese culture performed during special occasions like business opening rituals, weddings, and other important events. Two men (southern lion and northern lion) in lion costumes dance mimicking a lion. In dragon dance, you need more dancers.
After the dance, we placed the money inside the lion’s mouth.
Green is the color of vegetables like lettuce. It represents “harvest”. The lion dance is a wish for a bountiful harvest for this new year.
