There’s a huge furniture and home accessories store with sprawling showrooms that my sister likes to visit. She’s not looking for a particular piece of furniture but she just likes to touch every item therein and say “I like this”.

She had brought me to the Living Spaces in San Leandro. We’ve been to the Living Spaces in Summerlin, Las Vegas and last Saturday, even if it was raining, we went to the Living Spaces’ main showroom in Milpitas.

There were lots of people they seemed to be looking at big ticket items. I bought two small home accessories and the cashier told me it seems busy but not busy. She said there are lots of people but they’re not buying, just looking. But big items like sofa, dining table, beds, take at least two trips to the showroom before a decision is made. It’s not just about the price or budget, but it’s matching furniture pieces with what you already have at home. Terno ba, bagay ba ang color, kasya ba sa space. These are important decisions that buyers think about. And of course, pasok ba sa budget.

She likes the tall Christmas tree. It’s easy to buy, the problem is in the hauling, assembly, dismantling, storage. Di bale sana kung pareho sa atin, I have a large Xmas tree, but I have some household staff who help me assemble. Even with helping hands, medyo hassle pa rin actually. You also need a large storage space.

This two reindeer are perfect beside the fireplace or beside the front door. I like sana but they don’t fit inside a balikbayan box.

Again, it’s nice to have a complete dining set up for the holidays, pero after the holidays who will make ligpit and dagdag kalat na naman yan.

I have an acquaintance who live in a 10,000 sq. ft. house in Makati City. Every holiday season, she hires an interior decorator to decorate her whole house including the toilets. All the trees around her property including the fences are bedecked with twinkling lights. I will not mention the name lest I would be accused by some narrow-minded tiga Binangonan of dropping names daw ako.

Whoever thought of converting two bicycles into a rolling / mobile bar is one heck of an artist. If only I can ship this to the Philippines, I would love to have a cocktail party around this most creative bar ever.

Her nameplate says Josephine but she said her name is really Elizabeth. Her full name is Josephine Elizabeth but here in the US, when you have two names, the first name is used. That’s the reason why there are so many women named Maria here. Elizabeth is from the Philippines.

This black bed makes it to my list.

A good mattress contributes to happiness at home. No, I don’t mean using it for s e x but couples sometimes fight when they don’t have enough space for two people. Tossing and turning at night creates tension between couples when the mattress also bounces. Rubber foam is a better choice if your spouse is malikot matulog. Even if your bedmate tosses and turns, you will not be bothered because that side of the rubber foam will not even twitch.

Len and Bong’s mattress is actually two twin beds joined together. Those came from their daughter’s rooms. Two beds joined together usually moves away from each other. A strap helps to keep them together. Now is the time to buy a new one piece mattress.

Living Spaces sells for $800 a metal bed frame that moves up and down. This is perfect for older people. Getting out of bed sometimes requires some creativity and that’s when the mechanism could help. Also you don’t need to pile up pillows to lean on when you watch tv in an upright position. tried it and it made me feel dizzy. I think I have vertigo.
