When Edmund found out that it’s going to be a long weekend he said “tart, punta na lang tayo sa Hongkong”. Eh ako naman okay lang kasi it’s just a short trip. Kain, lakad, tulog. Wala ng shopping sa HK kasi super mahal.
He added “Oh, sabihin mo na sa travel agent mo”. He was referring to Oyen.
When I informed my daughter, hindi daw sya pwede, she has radio. I forgot na the other reasons. She has meetings yata and or she’s traveling the day after the holiday.
When Edmund found out that his daughter will not come with us, he canceled his plans of eating Hainan Chicken Rice at the fastfood across Marco Polo Hotel.
Oyen suggested that we go to Guam (missiles!!!) or Japan or somewhere else.
Edmund and I didn’t want to go farther than HK. We just wanted a short flight and easy travel, no big preparations needed.
My husband suggested that we just go up to Baguio. My hesitation was that it’s always raining and there could be landslides. The usual worrier, that’s me.
He went on and booked a room for the two of us but when Oyen decided to join us, Edmund got a suite room instead. The rates are much lower because it’s low season in Baguio.
At first she wanted us to leave for Baguio on Saturday but Edmund didn’t like because that’s already his birthday. Then Oyen suggested that she would just follow. Hmm not a good idea either. Since it’s her dad’s birthday, she willingly canceled her radio duty and her meetings.

We left our house at 10:30 am. We made a Starbucks stop in Bulacan at 11:20 am.
Father and daughter are loyal Starbucks customers.
Mother doesn’t drink coffee so she just makes usyoso the mugs for sale.
I was shocked when I saw the price tag. I thought the price range would be P250 to P500 maximum. Ang mahal na pala ngayon talaga.
This one is made of glass and is even more expensive at 1,295. Our salaries increase but the prices of commodities increase even faster. The cost of doing business keeps climbing so prices are skyrocketing.
When I told my husband I would start drinking coffee too, wag na daw.
Another stop in La Union just before we hit Marcos Hway.
Shing a ling used to be packed in ordinary clear plastic. Ngayon ganda na oh. Class na.
Morning newspapers greet us with bad news.
Stop planting evidence? That’s great. Dapat naman po. Kawawa naman ang mga inosenteng mamamayan. Hindi lang isang linggong iiyak ang mga pamilya nila kundi habang buhay na pighati at kawalan.
I thought I heard someone say “kung walang ebidensya lagyan nyo”.
I bought hotdog on a stick. P33. May kamahalan kumapara sa gilid ng grocery sa Robinsons Galleria P19 pesos lang.
Rotary Wheel (Rotary International) is the marker in Marcos Hway. The Lion (Lions International) naman is the marker in Kennon road.
Oh oh, ingat. Drivers generally lack the basic driving skills and knowledge of rules.
Do not overtake when it’s zigzag, solid yellow line, around the bend, blind corner. Even on narrow road unless wide open and you can see there are no incoming vehicles from a safe distance. When going downhill, do not overtake too and slow down. Step on your breaks. Slow down too when turning. Mag menor pag paliko ang kalye. Pagmabilis ang takbo mo pababa, bubulusok ka hayan tumalembang pa.
We arrived in Baguio around 3:30 or 4 pm. As soon as we reached the flyover, it started drizzling. Typhoon Jolina welcome to Baguio City.
