May 9, 2019, London
Edmund liked the Frenchie restaurant in Covent Garden where he, Oyen, and I had lunch on March 21, 2018. He unexpectedly asked to dine again at that place when we went back to London on May 8. We asked Oyen to make the table reservation online.
I invited Marife, my very nice and kind OMB reader who lives in London to join us for lunch.
It was raining on this day and it was too cold so Edmund and I took Uber to the restaurant. On a pleasant day, it could be a 20-minute walk.
Marife was already there at Frenchie when we arrived.
Frenchie is chef Grégory Marchand’s brainchild. It first opened in Paris where it earned its first Michelin Star. Frenchie has also become a cult in New York City as well as in London.
The first floor was full of people and was very noisy from the customers’ chatters. We were lucky to have been given a table on the lower ground where we enjoyed watching the chefs do their thing.
Edmund was pleased to meet Marife. He appreciated that she provided me with some comfort while I was in pain and alone the first time I came here at the beginning of April.
Marife said she accidentally encountered my blog many years ago while she was surfing for something. She has never stopped reading Oh My Buhay ever since.
Green Asparagus, Smoked Hollandaise, Crispy Hen’s Egg
Dark chocolate, raspberry coulis, espelette and smoked yoghurt ice cream
Marife accompanied me to the emergency hospital last April 3, 2019, the day after I arrived from Manila with an elbow and shoulder injury.
Thank you Tart for this lunch.
Thank you Marife for joining us for lunch.
(P.S. Marife gave me a beautiful gift. I will show you later.)
