Had lunch today with Edmund, Yayo, Smile, and Wheng at the Madison Bistro Moderne on the ground floor of Edsa Shangrila Hotel facing the new shopping mall.
I allotted 15 minutes travel time from our house but it took me more than that. I was embarrassed to be late so I messaged our ka-meeting. When I arrived at the restaurant, not a single soul was there. Okay lang naman, I brought out my appointments book and went over some of my schedules.
In a few minutes, they started arriving one by one, including dear husband.
The five of us were the only ones in the restaurant.
Although I had the privilege of choosing this venue, Edmund and I were guests, not the hosts.
I am a very considerate guest. I feel embarrassed ordering dishes that are expensive when I am not the one paying. Nahihiya ako.
I didn’t order any appetizer although my daughter reminded me to order the Speck and Goat Cheese Mousse, her personal favorite.
4 women and one man, all wanting to lose weight so no one ordered meat.
If I am not mistaken, the waiter’s name is Philip.
He brought this big bread platter to our table. I chose one soft dinner roll.
The five of us ordered the soup of the day, seafood volette. We found it too creamy. If I were to refine this dish, I would add chicken stock.
The waiter highly recommended this tri-colored ravioli with truffle oil. He said it’s one of their best sellers. At P425 a plate, I see why most people would go for this. On a scale of 1 to 10, I’d say this is a 7. If I were to tweak this dish a little bit to make it at least an 8.5, I would make the ravioli dough softer and lighten the colors a bit.
Edmund had coffee while I shared this dessert with the 3 ladies.
Pistachio Mousse Tart with macaron over mascarpone cream P265.
