The rate we change maids is faster than the time I spend traveling from Pasong Tamo to Ortigas Avenue via EDSA on a daily basis.
The turn-over rate would be even faster beginning now because I have learned new lessons the past two weeks on human behavioral management from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). Huwag daw masyadong mabait. Kung ayaw namin, we have to be decisive and terminate the services right away. Do not prolong dahil nakakaawa naman.
I let Janet go on Wednesday morning, August 6. Nadun pa rin konti ang pagdududa– to give her another chance, but it’s useless. Nothing good will come out of it. Ako pa contrabida I am sure.
A few days into her employment, she told me “Mam, gusto kita, gusto kong magtrabaho dito”. She began to dislike me after I started calling her attention on how dirty our house is. I showed her how to clean the gilid-gilid. Of course, maids don’t like to be told what to do. I knew it already that she would beging to dislike her job.
Tuesday morning, as I was leaving, I saw a small wet surface (Jazzy’s pee) on the floor in our garage lobby. I called Janet to wipe it dry and clean it. I hurriedly left, after a block away, I realized I left my cellphone in the kitchen. When I came back, I saw her dragging the dripping mop across the garage. The whole floor lobby was watery, not wet. The first step on the wooden stairs was so wet, as if someone poured a tabo of water. The floor was maputik and the whole place started to smell like dog pee. Nainis talaga ako sa kanya. I raised my voice and told her if she wanted to stay with us, she should do naman her work properly. I told her the maximum she cleans is only an hour. And she has lots of time to watch tv, sleep, rest, chat, etc. It’s unfair naman that I pay her good money and provide for everything and yet she is so lazy.
When I caught her sleeping in our sofa, I didn’t scold her. I just reminded her to sleep in their room instead.
Tuesday afternoon, my son told me that when he parkd his car, his friend told him that there’s a cellphone right on the same spot where we found our former maid Jenny’s cellphone.
When he came home, he gave the phone to me. I was interested to see whether the owner of this phone took photos of our house while wearing our clothes.
Since I didn’t know whose phone it was, I checked the messages. Ow, Janet’s.
Well, she’s BFF na with Susan, the cook that stayed with us a week or so. Ngayon, they are friends, talking about the other maids, and me.
The next morning, I fired her. I didn’t get mad. I just told her that she should go where she’s happier. Not here. Eto pa, I gave her extra money pa and clothes. He he he. Hayaan mo na nga, I just don’t want to see her again.
Aeropostole jeans pa for her relatives
I gave her some old IZOD golf shirts of Edmund.
Janet—— “Mam, huwag masyadong madami”.
As per instruction and suggestion from the village’s chief security, kailangan all maids who are either resigned or terminated, must sign something like this. Kasi daw maraming nag-iimbento. Nasusulsulan, pupunta sa kung saan-saan to extort money.
