We came from a dinner party last night. I sat with the wives while Edmund sat with the husbands. Ladies’ topics started with “how old are you” then veered towards their bad experiences with maids / household helpers / kasambahay. The last part was about robbers who made it inside big houses in gated villages.

Here are some horror stories:

1. A T E family lives in Valle Verde 6. They were supposed to spend a long holiday during the Holy Week but decided to come home early on Easter Sunday morning. When they reached home, they just stayed in their rooms on the second floor. After a while, their maid saw on the mirror a reflection of a guy. When she turned, she saw another guy standing near the swimming pool, while the other one was trying to enter the house. She screamed, the guys ran away.

Investigation showed that the guys were not outsiders. They were most likely their neighbor’s driver and boy. they passed thru the back fence.

After a few days, a dead black cat was found in their garden. Someone threw it over the bakod. They concluded that it could be those two guys who feared that their faces were recognized by the maid.

As an additional security measure, family ATE increased the height of their concrete fence and installed electric fence wires.

2. A couple in Ayala Alabang Village, came home one night only to discover there was someone who broke into their house. He was holding a knife. The wife screamed and ran to the garage and hid under a car. The robber chased her and sadly, the car didn’t provide her with any protection. He was still able to reach her and repeatedly stabbed her. She died.

The house is now abandoned and is for sale. No one wants to buy it because the neighbors know the story.

3. Because of bad experiences with maids, Mrs. T started locking their bedrooms when they leave the house. She only allowed the housemaids to come and clean the room while she’s is around. She has a bad feeling that she’s been losing some cash from her bag. But she wasn’t sure. Her husband felt the same way too.

One day, one of the maids told them that their house girl remitted P13,000 to her parents in the province. Mrs. T confronted the house girl. She asked her if she stole 5,000 pesos from her. At first, the house girl denied the accusations. But afterwards, she admitted stealing P5,000. Then Mrs. T asked her, “Ninakaw mo ba P10,000 sa akin?” She said yes. P15,000? The answer was yes. They sent her to the barangay jail but after 3 days they let her go. She has stolen more than P40,000 but Mr. & Mrs. T could not determine the exact amount because they never counted their money.

4. The caregiver of Mrs. A’s sickly mother would slip into the other bedrooms while the occupants are having dinner. She would steal a few bills from their wallets. It took them sometime before discovering what the caregiver has been doing.

5. There’s a dinner party at the house of Mrs. C in Ayala Alabang. Her guests included family members, their children and their yayas. Mrs. C caught one of the yayas surfing through the handbag of one of the guests. She asked her “Hoy, anong ginagawa mo?” Mrs. C called the attention of her guests. She told them she caught the yaya getting something from the bag. She asked who’s bag is this? Mrs. L said that’s my bag. They whisked the yaya to the toilet and asked her to take off her blouse. She denied taking anything. They forced her to remove her bra. Four 1,000 peso bills fell off her from her bra. Four neatly folded 1,000 peso bills. Ang bilis daw ng kamay, she was able to fold them neatly, one by one.

6. Every time they have a party at home, Mrs. A loses the toiletries at the toilet inside their gym / playroom. Six times in a row. Lotion, Feminine wash, soap, tissue box holder. She suspected it could be a maid or yaya.

7. Mrs. P is normally out the whole day. One day, she came home earlier than usual because she was not feeling well. She found the house cleaner comfortably seated on their bed, hugging one pillow while talking on the cellphone. With the aircon on.

8. The maid in connivance with another maid carried their amo’s small vault from the employer’s cabinet to the garage. They hailed a taxi and loaded the vault at the back of the taxi’s trunk.
The village guards manning the gate didn’t check the contents of the taxi. Because they recognized the two maids and even without a gate pass signed by their employer, the guard let the taxi leave the subdivision. The vault contained precious jewelries.

  1. Wow. Scary. It would feel horrible to feel you are among people you don’t trust – in your own home. I guess that’s good that I’m my own housekeeper/cook/cleaner.

  2. Good morning Ms Annie.. 🙂

It’s true.. It is hard nowadays to find a kasambahay or yaya who is really honest and true.. 🙁

While times are hard for most of them back home in their provinces, it is NOT an excuse for them to CONNIVE with other maids/drivers/houseboys and STEAL from their employers.. 🙁 that’s why nowadays, there are stories abt maids/drivers or houseboys who are sent to jail by their employers, cguro to set an example to other househelp that CRIME DOES NOT PAY AND UL END UP IN JAIL.. 🙂

Dko rin masisi ung ibang rich employers who are not TOO FRIENDLY with their househelp.. Para na din cguro hindi maging TOO COMPLACENT at maging ABUSO sa mga amo nila.. Tama rin pala to put a SAFE DISTANCE between the househelp and the Amo.. Pero Wag naman Sobra at baka naman ang Amo ang maging abuso.. 🙂

Have a great weekend, Ms Annie.. 😉 take care and stay healthy always.. God bless u and ur family.. 🙂
