This is a delayed post.

Edmund had a golf tournament that’s why he couldn’t join Oyen’s advanced birthday lunch which I arranged before leaving for Hawaii.
I booked this two months in advance.
It was Malu Veloso herself who told me about their informal restaurant inside their ancestral home in Pasay City. She said she’s the only one living there now. Her brother who’s a chef in Madrid taught them how to make pasta sauces, etc. they thought of opening their home to friends. They don’t have a website and she doesn’t want to advertise. Word of mouth lang daw.
I like to eat in places like this. Tahimik, no service charge, no parking hassles, and very private.
Medyo masikip lang ang kalye going to their place in Pasay.
We almost backed out because the entrance to Zamora Street corner EDSA was full of vendors and parked vehicles. We weren’t sure if our vehicle could squeeze through.
One vendor said “magpasagasa kayo para bayaran tayo”.
Very enterprising.
The gate leading to Malu Veloso’s compound doesn’t have a sign board. There were two men waiting for us at the gate.
It’s an old sprawling bungalow that sits on an almost half hectare of lush garden and mature trees planted by Architect Pablo Antonio and his wife.
Malu was at the door seeing a couple leave. Tamang-tama, kami naman ang dumating.
Our table was in front of the Koi pond. A little dark inside but okay lang, medyo nakaka antok kasi madilim at mahangin. It was a nice spot. The round table was good for 6 px, wala si Edmund.
two kinds of rice, white, brown rice with fresh mango
Roast whole chicken with rosemary, basil, sweet potato (camote)
Chicken thighs with grilled eggplant (talong ni manong)
We had bottomless ice cold salabat for our drinks and topped our meal with a plate of delicious fresh strawberries with caramel and cream.
Liked:
Chorizo pasta sauce
Strawberries with cream
Ginger salabat drink
Hated:
The tiled flooring that’s slightly inclined. I slipped three times and the last one hurt my arm and knee. I leaned on their anay finish wall to prevent myself from falling. I had several scratches, one was slightly bigger and was bleeding. I still have three visible scars on my right arm. #morepeklats
I paid P5,000 for the 5 of us (P1,000 per person). It’s not just the food but the whole experience. Para maiba naman kasi lagi na lang sa restaurant.
For reservation: (02) 631-5054
She has a shop in Podium, lower ground floor in front of Terry’s.
All I could think about is how much amilyar she pays for the lot of the property 🙂 must be a substantial amount
There are no high rise condominiums there yet. It’s still mostly old residential compounds. The property tax may not be that big, yet.
