Maple Restaurant - Oh My Buhay

September 3, 2015  Wednesday

After our short meeting at the Megaworld office in Buendia at 3 pm,  I headed back north to avoid getting stuck in traffic for at least two hours.    I felt the difference in my body condition after only a half hour travel.

I got off at Shangrila Mall with the intention to aliw myself.  I was also very hungry and was in the mood for a good pasta.   I went to the new wing and entered the Rolex store and browsed for 3 minutes.  Then I went down to the lower ground floor.    Aha, Maple restaurant.  This must be newly opened.    While I stood outside their door,  looking at their menu,  a waiter greeted me.

Omb——“Bagong bukas lang ba kayo?”

Waiter—-“Nung July pa mam”.

I saw some pasta dishes in their menu,  sige dito na lang.

There was something in the ambiance that made me suspect that this restaurant could be part of a group of restaurants.  I asked the waiter,  tama nga ang kutob ko.  Same owner as Max Fried Chicken, Pancake House,  Krispy Kreme, Jamba Juice, Yellow Cab, Le Coeur De France, Dencio’s, Kabisera, Teriyaki Boy, Sizzlin’ Pepper Steak.

I flipped their menu book several times.   I was in the mood for pasta. I was actually wanting to cook my own clam pasta but the thought of sitting in the traffic going to Farmers Market to buy fresh ingredients discouraged me.

O eto, they do have clam pasta.  Clam Agli Olio.

Omb——Miss, this is my order,  Clam Pasta

Ang galing kong pumili,  wala daw clam pasta.    That threw me off balance.  I didn’t know what to order and thought of leaving.  Kakahiya naman.   Sige na nga eto na lang,  Spaetzle Jambalaya.

Omb——“Miss ano ba itong Spaetzle?”

Waitress—“Pasta”.

She said it’s very spicy and asked me if she would request for mild spicy.

Of courshetzele!

Waitress—–“Complimentary bread”.

That was sweet of them.  I was starving so in two seconds, this tiny bread disappeared in sight.   Come to think of it,  that’s not free or complimentary.   That’s included in the cost of dining here.    Dapat,  “Mam, your pasta comes with one tiny bread”.  Kasi pag free or complimentary parang utang na loob ko.

After.

I just scooped the mussels and two pieces of shrimps.   I ate some pasta but didn’t like the texture.   They didn’t look, feel and taste like the traditional pasta I knew.

From Maple,  I hopped to their neighbor, Epicurious.  I bought bolognese, pastrami,  soup, and bread.

I was curious if it tastes good so I ate one piece as soon as I got on the car. Notice the brown plastic container? That was from my dear husband, basurahan ko daw.

  1. That combination makes no sense. Jambalaya hast be made with rice. And pairing it with German noodles is just wrong.
