The presidential election is heating up with several possible contenders, Bongbong Marcos, Grace Poe, Binay, and now Mar Roxas. For Vice President naman
Chiz Escudero, Allan Cayetano, Duterte, and Annie Tan-Yee.
Next year pa ang election, so next year pa ako pipili ng iboboto for president. Mag-pa-family meeting pa kami kasi block voters kami.
Mar and I had a short chat during President Noynoy Aquino’s visit to Tokyo a few years ago. He was extremely busy during the trip assisting Pnoy on his official meetings with top Japanese officials and foreign investors. Mar was the one who prepared some of the materials, letters, and was the one briefing the President on his series of scheduled discussions with dignitaries. He was always on his toes working late at night.
I personally was not surprised that Mar was doing all that for Pnoy. Mar was trained well by his father and grandfather. At a young age, he exhibited maturity and dependability. He had a good education (Wharton). He served as a congressman, senator, cabinet member. He was one of Erap’s trusted and dependable cabinet. Mar didn’t enrich himself while working in government and as a politician.
I remembered asking him if he’s still going to run for president, he answered “baka hindi na”.
And now he has spoken, he’s running for president. Pnoy endorsed him to be his successor.
Last night I saw the tv news clips of the Liberal Party’s gathering at Club Filipino in Greenhills.
I saw Korina Sanchez seated beside Mar. Being a tv celebrity and from Channel 2 ABS CBN at that, she was interviewed. She said something about people na maninira sa kanya or something to that effect, kasi nga sa politica eh ganyan siraan ng siraan. Ang sabi daw ni Mar sa kanya kung hindi naman tutoo eh hindi yun didikit. (It won’t prosper.)
Korina challenged her bashers by saying “bring it on”.
If Edmund is going to run for president, I will apply the following to myself: just smile, less talk. I am glad we are not in politics kasi ako rin ay antipatika.
The only thing about Mar is he lacks charisma… And most of the time he talks about things while he is not expert on the subject matter. He should also be aware that his countenance is affecting how people perceive him. If he wants to succeed, then he should appear sincere just like before when he was the mr. Palengke. Though he is rich, I believed he visits farmers’ market. I guess simon cowell won’t comment that Mr. Roxas is likable now. He should make himself an Idol once more. Just like Daniel Matsunaga who won pbb because people saw him worthy. Charisma, you either have it or you don’t.
If Pinoys are always after people with charisma, I’m sorry but we will be electing the same people who have put the Philippines where it is now. We should be more discerning in electing our leaders. With me, it starts with our family and the people close to us who are not well- informed about politics but value on what we have to say based on factual evidences. Kaso parang halos karamihan ng gusto naming leaders na maganda ang track record laging natatalo.
Sobrang nakakalungkot lang ang nangyayari sa Pilipinas politically, economically, etc.
