Antonia’s brother died from multiple organ failure from years of dialysis. She advanced her one month salary although she said the family doesn’t need financial help because the daughter is in London and religiously sent money to take care of her father’s medical needs. Antonia’s niece met her African British husband on line. The guy instantly fell in love with Antonia’s beautiful niece. “Maganda kasi mam yung pamangkin ko”. The guy wasted no time in personally meeting her niece. But when he came, she told him right away thru Facebook that she’s ngongo. He was already genuinely inlove with her and her disability didn’t deter him from marrying her. The guy is 32 and Antonia’s niece is 29.
Antonia left two days ago to pay her last respects to her brother. She said she’ll be back on Monday after the Sunday burial.
She was kind enough to go to the grocery first to make sure we have food.
She also left instructions with the other maid who also knows how to cook.
When I asked what she was cooking for our dinner, she said Antonia instructed her to cook chicken tinola. Hmmm, how thoughtful Antonia is. She knew we were going to miss her so she made sure even in her absence we would still feel her presence thru her world famous tinola.
I opened our pantry to check out what we have there. I found something neatly wrapped behind the bottles of olive oil. It was hard and heavy. When I opened what was inside, wow what a surprise. Things that I love the most… assorted salad / dessert plates.
