A new community center was built for several neighboring barangays in Ugong Norte. Despite the objection of some residents, the construction of the building proceeded without delay.
The blessing and ceremonial turn-over was held on July 19, 2015 with Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista as the guest of honor.
I brought Edmund along. We purposely arrived late to skip the mass and blessing.
I informed naman my colleagues beforehand that instead of 4 pm, I would be there at 5:30 pm. I calculated the time, the Mayor would probably arrive at 4:30 the earliest, then the ceremony, blessing, speeches.
I didn’t understand why the attire had to be BLACK OR WHITE ONLY.
Perfect timing. The punong barangay, Yasi Wells-Jorge, had just finished her speech.
The Eastwood City skyline could be seen from the building’s roof deck.
The building looks like a Mediterranean mansion.
Quezon City Congressman Joel Banal. 15 years ago, he and his wife came to our house once, I was recuperating from a major operation, I couldn’t go down the stairs yet. I received them at our second floor hallway. He was not yet a congressman at that time.
Joel and his wife are two very nice people. Even if he’s already a congressman, every time he sees me or Edmund, ganun pa rin, puno ng paggalang, he hasn’t changed a bit.
Cong. Joel Banal, OMB, Mayor Herbert Bautista. Herbert doesn’t age. He is forever boyish-looking.
We arrived in time for supper but Edmund didn’t want to eat there. The tables were set up outside, it was hot and humid. So uwi na lang kami.
We made usyoso muna the garden. There used to be a plant vendor here where Edmund found the asitava plant, na hindi naman pala asitava.
Sarap dito, they even have a gazebo.
The garden is overlooking the Marikina Valley and parts of Rizal including Antipolo Hills.
