The finale of our culinary and wine tour is a half-day guided tour of Bordeaux from Mercure Hotel to the Museum of Decorative Arts. The museum is closed because it’s a holiday but it would be open exclusively for our group’s private tour. I chose not to join this one as I was already feeling the tiredness plus I was agitated with the fact that I couldn’t anymore close my luggage. I couldn’t even bring home one single shampoo bottle from the hotel toilet!
Oyen and Nyke joined the tour and in an hour, my son was texting “The museum is full of plates”.
Oh sayang. I thought kasi it would be full of modern art, yun pala it’s one big house full of porcelain. Nung araw pala, plates were used to display their wealth. Kaya kahit sa banyo at kwarto, merong mga pinggan. Cool! I probably I lived in that era kaya until now, I still have attachment to plates. Baka mayaman kami nung araw. Baka talagang French girl ako. Baka akala ko lang English girl ako, yun pala French. In fact I like it so much when they pronounce my name Annie. It’s like mani (peanuts) with out the m.
Missing the museum tour is a good reason for me to go back to Bordeaux. Baka the owners of that mansion were my pinsans. See you next time pinsans and pinggans!
My children were back in the hotel around noon. Lunch is no longer included on the last day so we walked to the town center to look for Asian food. Bordeaux is a pedestrian paradise, streets are narrow and establishments are more compressed.
According to Julienne, this restaurant, Le Cafe Blanc daw is Top 3 Best Restaurant in Bordeaux. kain tayo dyan next time.
We found an alley with dikit-dikit restos, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese. The Viets won.
The zero-English French waiter couldn’t understand our order, Their menu is in French, no English translation.
We chose Menu de Mekong, a pre-fix menu.
I was happy with what I ordered. It’s very tasty.
We had some difficulty choosing our desserts kasi the waiter doesn’t speak a single English word. Bananas? Annas?
Their desserts were all yummy.
We have an hour before the bus comes to pick us up, we walked a little.
Most shops are closed for their afternoon siesta 1 pm – 2:30.
Tingin tingin na lang sa labas. Their new window displays are made of white powder coated wires shaped like Kelly bag, etc.
Hermes is also closed and would open in 20 minutes. We couldn’t wait because it’s still a 10 minute walk back to Mercure.
We couldn’t believe that there’s an Hermes boutique in this city. In Marseille nga walang LV. Pero dito meron, Baka Bordeaux is more affluent.
