Merienda sa Rizal - Oh My Buhay

Malou Panelo and Paraluman Balanga were the ones who took care of ordering food. I requested for lots of food, sabi ko todohan, yung marami, masarap. Yung heavy. The only dishes that I specifically mentioned were sopas and bibingka (called biko in other parts of Luzon).

Ang mga merienda sa lalawigan ng Rizal ay kadalasan lugaw (pospas), sopas, pansit bihon guisado, menudo, puto, bibingka, puto-bumbong, palitaw, etc.

The table was set when I arrived around 2 pm.

This is not the original OKOY that I know. Okoy has sliced camote (sweet potato) and togue. The flour used is galapong na merong atswete.
suka at okoy

Masarap yung suka. Wala namang gaanong sarap yung okoy pero sumarap sya dahil sa suka. Masyado lang crispy at matulis yung mga sungay nung hipon. Masakit sa labi, dila at gilagid. Nakakasugat. Teka, hindi yata sungay ang tawag dun… hmmm, ay nalimutan ko na…………………………………………………………………………………………ayun, sungut. Sungut ang tawag, hindi sungay.

You can buy tiny shrimps at the fish port (pritil), mga sariwa talaga bagong hango sa dagat, P50 one gallon (size of pineapple juice can). Minsan bumibili ako pero ayaw naman kainin ng mga dati naming maids. Mga anak mayaman kasi. Walang hilig sa okoy.

bin party 166 two piecees okoy on my plate

This is good, except that it’s too greasy and if you eat too much, it’s so heavy on the stomach. I brought home a few slices. Mas masarap sana ito kung merong budbod.
biko, Binangonan

I didn’t get to taste this lumpiang gulay or lumpiang togue.

This is not the real pansit bihon. Merong dekorasyon na itlog ng pugo (quail eggs). Parang pang Halloween party, hanapin mo ang iyong maliit na itlog.

  1. Hi Ms Annie, what is that rice cake called again? I love those! I cant find a Filipino place here in LA that serves those.

    1. Hi T,
Valerio’s Bakery has this Biko. They have the white one with langka and the purple one. Mas masarap yun may langka. 🙂 Their Pandesal and Palitaw, masarap rin. You can google Valerio’s location in LA and nasa Yelp rin sila. Thanks!

  2. Some call it BIKO. Meron nyan sa Filipino fastfood , try in Seafood City or Island pacific or in Filipino bakeshops.
