My friend Jeannie Javelosa and I decided to have an early dinner. We met at the hotel lobby at 5 pm. She wanted to eat at the Erawan Tea Room located on the third level of the Erawan Bangkok Mall attached to Grand Hyatt Hotel where Rolex, Patek Philippe, Comme des Garcons, Warutti, and a few other high-end shops are located.
Jeannie had dined here before and she liked the food that’s why she wanted to come back.
The place is dark but surprisingly comfortable and relaxing. The ambience exudes an understated poshness.
The restaurant sells some Thai souvenir items.
The waitress said we didn’t make it to the afternoon tea. But it says here it’s up to 6 pm.
Very dark teak wood table and chairs
We got two kinds of appetizer— chicken pandan, and steamed spring rolls
I thought the waitress made a mistake. We ordered steamed spring rolls and this was what arrived. When we clarified if this was the steamed spring roll, eto daw.
Four tiny fried chicken wrapped in pandan leaves
Pad thai noodles
We split the bill. I paid half of the food bill excluding the wine. I gave Jeannie my share in Thai baht. I still have some THB left over from my trip here with Edmund last August.
Jeannie charged the total food bill to her card. The THB 920 was for two glasses of wine for Jeannie. I don’t drink. Well, I do, but limited to buko juice, dalandan juice, lately, lemonade.
Erawan Tea Room received recognition from Michelin Guide Bangkok in 2017 as a Michelin Bites restaurant.
The food, service, ambiance, are all good at Erawan Tea Room. No wonder Jeannie likes this place. I like it too.
