Our quick visit to the Mines View Park on December 30, 2015 was to refresh my children’s memory of the place. My son had absolutely no recollection since he was only less than 7 years old when he last came here.
Before reaching the main gate, we encountered the taho vendor with a choice of ube or strawberry sauces. I got the strawberry taho while my kids tried the ube taho. The ube was allegedly from the Good Shepherd Convent known for their delicious but too sweet ube.
A lot had been done to improve one of Baguio’s main attraction, the Mines View Park. However, konti na lang, it could still be improved further by an efficient garbage collection and disposal.
Thousands of people visit the place every day during peak season. They eat and drink while walking around the park.
Big garbage bins marked properly (THROW YOUR GARBAGE HERE) at every few meters distance will guide tourists as to where to dump their trash.
Commercial building at the main entrance
A really big improvement from three years ago.
The roof and ceiling of the iconic view deck had been repaired.
It was quite a challenge taking photos without strangers included in your family picture.
Enterprising St. Bernard dog, P50 a photo if you could stand his stinky smell.
Photo op with a horse and rubbish.
There are many flower and plant vendors on both sides of the pedestrian walkway leading to the viewing deck.
Some vendors have started encroaching on the pedestrian lane.
The everlasting flower used to be the symbol of Baguio. Every visitor comes back with a string or two for their altars. It has lost its charm as Baguio’s souvenir icon.
The walis tambo has overtaken the Everlasting flower’s glory.
E——-“Milyun-milyon na walis tambo ang nabebenta nila. Lahat ng sasakyan merong walis sa likod”.
Love for inihaw na pusit is one of the things I would leave behind with my son. Anywhere and everywhere we go basta merong inihaw na pusit, for sure, bibili kaming dalawa.
P25 a stick. One thing I never allowed him to do is to dip into the suka ng bayan. Basta we just eat the pusit plain, no suka.
My daughter bought a stick of squid balls for P20 5 pieces, no making sawsaw also.
